The Kinshasa National Zoological Park, located in the Gombe district of Kinshasa, is home to over 30 animal species, including mammals, reptiles, birds, and amphibians. Established in 1933, the zoo serves as both a recreational space and an educational hub, providing training opportunities for students interested in zoology. It houses a variety of primates such as chimpanzees and gorillas, as well as reptiles like Nile crocodiles, and various bird species, including vultures and parrots. Despite challenges faced during the Congo Wars, the zoo has undergone multiple rehabilitation efforts to continue its role in animal conservation and public education.

A Zoo in Kinshasa... A place to pass the time... There are Chimpanzee, Monkeys, Crocodiles, Lizard, Eagles and few birds... Chimpanzees are the attraction... You can offer them food to eat and they revert with very positive gestures...

Visit the zoo! Animals and people need more attention. Bring bananas and peanuts for the monkeys and carrots for the horses. The animals look forward to you!

If you love wildlife and have a feeling for conservation, don't go to this place. It's a sorry site. A concentration camp for animals. Crocodiles trapped in an algae ridden run-off pond littered with plastics and waste. I regretted it.

It was a nice time for me at the zoo probably because I was bored and needed a time out. The zoo have a few reptiles , a lot of monkeys, bamboon, chimps and gorilla and about 3 cats. It would have been interesting to see Lions and some of these other wild animals like Tigers, hynea, and the likes.. The tour guard took us round and he understood a little of English which was a top one. The gate is 2500 CFA about $1.25
