Tinapa Resort is a business and leisure complex situated north of Calabar, Cross River State, along the Calabar River and adjacent to the Calabar Free Trade Zone. Developed through a public-private partnership and launched in 2007, it spans over 80,000 square metres of retail and wholesale space, alongside a range of entertainment amenities including a water park, casino, cinema, and Tinapa Studios for film production. The resort also features a 243-room hotel, event spaces, and a monorail linking it to the Calabar International Convention Centre. Despite significant investment and infrastructure, the project has faced legal and operational challenges, including unclear trade zone status and underutilization of its facilities.

Back in the day, Tinapa used to be the "it" place to be, but now it's a shadow of what it once was, but it's view still remains superb.

The place was very poorly maintained as at the time of my visit. The resort has a lot of potential but the poor management easily masked all of that.

At the moment it’s only the water park that is functional, the other part of the resort is under renovation according to the staff on site but I believe the place is dead. A really poor management, the grass ain’t trim, the whole place isn’t what I was 8-10 years ago. I hope the new administration will do something about it..

The water park use to be an amazing place to visit until I went there today. The slides are still under repairs and the water wasn't vacuumed. I had to get my refund and visit somewhere else. Aside from the Water Park other places are dilapidated and the environment is not under a good management

Lovely room. Lovely view. The lakeside is beautiful and one can actually go on a boat ride. Enjoyed their food service esp plantain&eggs! Super courteous staff. Just that it's beginning to look abandoned - cobwebs in the high ceilings and grass growing in between concrete slabs. Poor maintenance no doubt yet it was a remarkable experience. Oh, and noisy, really noisy, air conditioner in my room.
