Anse Georgette is a public beach on the northwest coast of Praslin Island that requires zero entry fees but involves significant logistical planning for non-guests of the surrounding resort. Most visitors reach the shoreline either by walking 20 minutes through the Constance Lemuria resort grounds or by completing a 3.2-kilometer mountain hike from Anse Lazio. While the water remains a consistent 28 to 30 degrees Celsius year-round, the accessibility of the beach is strictly managed by the resort, which typically limits off-site visitors to 30 people per day.
Accessing the beach through the main resort gate is the most common route, but it requires a reservation made at least two to four days in advance. You must contact the resort via phone or have your local guesthouse manager call to put your name on the visitor list for a specific date. Once you pass the security gate, the walk takes approximately 20 minutes along a paved path that winds through an 18-hole championship golf course. It is important to stay on the designated pedestrian path to avoid interfering with active play on the greens. Security guards at the entrance are known to turn away anyone whose name does not appear on the daily manifest — even those who have traveled across the island by bus specifically for the beach.
For those who fail to secure a resort reservation or prefer a more rugged experience, a trail connects Anse Lazio to Anse Georgette. This route covers roughly 3.2 kilometers and reaches a peak elevation of approximately 135 meters. The terrain is largely composed of dirt paths, loose rocks, and dense tropical vegetation. While the distance sounds manageable, the high humidity levels make the 120-meter ascent feel significantly more taxing than a standard inland hike. You should expect the journey to take between 60 and 90 minutes depending on your fitness level. The final descent into the bay is steep and can become dangerously slippery after rainfall, so wearing sturdy trainers is a necessity rather than a suggestion.
Private boat charters and organized snorkeling tours often stop at Anse Georgette as their final destination of the day. Because there is no jetty or pier in the bay, boats must anchor a short distance from the shore, requiring guests to swim or wade through shallow water to reach the sand. This is often the most expensive way to visit but bypasses the need for resort permissions or physical exertion. During periods of high swell, boat captains may refuse to drop passengers off if the shore break appears too aggressive for a safe landing.
Sea conditions at Anse Georgette fluctuate dramatically based on the monsoon seasons. From November to May, the water is generally calm and turquoise, providing ideal conditions for swimming and photography. However, during the southeast trade winds from June to September, the waves become much more powerful and can create a dangerous undertow. Unlike other beaches on Praslin that are protected by an offshore coral reef, the seafloor here drops off rapidly into deep water. This lack of a reef barrier means there is nothing to break the force of the incoming ocean, so even strong swimmers should remain cautious when the tide is high or the wind is strong.
Snorkeling is best conducted along the granite rock formations on either end of the bay where the water is roughly 2 to 5 meters deep. While the central sandy area is largely devoid of coral, the rocky fringes host schools of parrotfish, damselfish, and the occasional hawksbill sea turtle. It is rare to see large crowds in the water due to the daily visitor cap, which helps maintain a high level of water clarity. If you are not a resort guest, you must bring your own snorkeling mask and fins as there are no rental facilities available on the sand.
You do not need a reservation if you arrive via the mountain trail or by boat because the reservation system only applies to the private resort gate. However, if you plan to exit through the resort to catch a bus after hiking in, security may still ask for your name on the list, so it is safer to return via the trail or have a pre-arranged boat pickup.
There are no permanent buildings, toilets, or restaurants at Anse Georgette to preserve its status as a natural site. You might find a local vendor selling fresh coconuts or fruit platters for roughly 100 to 200 Seychelles Rupees, but you must carry at least 2 liters of water per person if you are hiking.
Children should only swim during the calm months of October through April and must be supervised at all times because the sand bank drops away into deep water very quickly. During the windy season from June to September, the waves can be high enough to knock an adult off their feet, making it unsuitable for young children.
The nearest bus stop is located approximately 900 meters from the Constance Lemuria security gate at the Lemuria Junction. If you are arriving by public transport, factor in an additional 10 minutes of walking on top of the 20-minute trek through the golf course to reach the shoreline.
Daniel Very nice beach! Would totally recommend to come here. Be sure to register at the hotel in advance! Ask your hotel to do it (they’ll know).
Ata Urun Must visit in Seychelles. I will never forget this beach and hiking in the most beautiful golf site in the world. I felt like I am in the heaven. Definitely worth 30 minutes hiking because that hiking itself is precious experience
Mohana Bhatacharyay One of the best beaches I have ever been to- in the world. It is absolutely beautiful and so serene. Even the locals recommended this beach. We went there one morning. You have to pass through the Lemuria golf resort and they don’t make it easy. You have to walk for almost 25-30 minutes one way and have to go uphill and downhill. So it is quite strenuous and at one point, honestly, I was super annoyed and thought this could be worth it. But it was. Worth every drop of sweat! There was no one but us. We had the whole beach to ourselves and it was so peaceful. We had a really great time here. Drones are not allowed here because of the proximity to the airport. But either way, don’t miss this beach when in Praslin.
Viktória Papp-György It’s a beautiful beach, not too crowded, takes about 20 minutes walk up and down a golf course. Parking is free at the entrance of the golf club/hotel. There is a guy selling coconut and fruits, so be prepared to have cash on you. You also need to cover up while walking through the grounds.
Iulia Manolescu One of the best. In May there were pretty big waves and strong sea currents, but it is a spectacular view. 25 min away from the parking place, you have to ask to Lemuria resort in order to pass through their resort.
