Sea Coach Express operates a ferry service connecting Freetown, Sierra Leone's capital, to the Banana Islands and Sherbro Island, providing an efficient alternative to road travel along the country's Atlantic coastline. Established to address challenging terrestrial routes, the service uses modern vessels equipped with safety features and basic amenities, reducing travel time significantly; the journey to the Banana Islands takes approximately 45 minutes from Freetown's Queen Elizabeth II Quay. The islands, historically linked to the transatlantic trade and colonial-era settlements, offer coastal villages, forested trails, and marine biodiversity. Schedules align with daylight hours for passenger safety, and advance booking is recommended during peak seasons.

It is good, only waiting area should be arranged in different ways to accommodate all passengers. Lungi side is very neatly arranged and organised. Freetown side is still past construction, over all experience is good, I am travelling in the sea coach frequently. Not fully digitised.

Their time schedule is highly unreliable. I purchased a ticket to travel to Lungi Airport for a 5 AM flight. When buying the ticket, I specifically inquired about the appropriate boat to take, and the cashier advised me to catch the 10:30 PM boat. I arrived promptly at 10:00 PM and waited for over an hour, only to discover—after asking—that the boat would not depart until 1:30 AM. No one informed passengers of this significant delay, leaving us stranded and uninformed. This lack of communication is deeply disappointing and reflects unprofessional behavior, showing little regard for the passengers’ time and well-being.

I have been riding sea coach for years, sea coach is becoming like any regular service in Africa because I don't understand why it should take 2hrs to get passengers from the airport to Aberdeen especially at night passenger are tired. This is not fair we are paying for expedite service and it becoming like regular ferry.

This service is critical to flying in and out of Freetown, Sierra Leone. Really helpful staff. The ferry Schedule is sometimes 5 hours before airline departure... tortuous! IMO the service seems overpriced at $40 per crossing. The experience could sometimes be rowdy, especially baggage handling, also, the transit buses are very old. Once, while approaching the shore... the ferry ran aground at night...and we had to be physically lifted into a smaller ferry. No official apologies. I will still use it as choices are limited...but there's a great opportunity for baggage handling and transit bus improvements.
