Sherbro Island, part of Sierra Leone's Bonthe District, spans about 600 km² and is separated from the mainland by the Sherbro River and Sherbro Strait. Bonthe, the island's main town, serves as a commercial hub. The Sherbro people, historically influential in the region, form the majority of the island's population of around 28,000. Fishing, swamp-rice cultivation, and tourism drive the local economy, with extensive beaches and diverse marine life, including green and leatherback sea turtles, African manatees, and record-size tarpon. Recent initiatives, such as Idris Elba's proposed “smart city” project, aim to boost economic development and infrastructure.
Bonthe Island is the most peaceful place in Sierra Leone. People living on the island are really accommodating. I cherish being there, more on holidays time..
Try to visit there and prove me right or wrong..
