Anbessa Travel was founded in 2013 under the name FKLM Ethiopia Tours, driven by a passion to showcase the extraordinary beauty and rich cultural heritage of the Horn of Africa to the world. From our base in Addis Ababa, we set out with a clear vision: to become the leading Destination Management Company in East Africa. Over the years, we have grown from a small local operator into a trusted B2B specialist DMC, partnering with over 100 global tour operators — including 25+ Serendipity members and 8+ Spanish-speaking operators — to deliver exceptional travel experiences across Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Kenya, Somaliland, Sudan, South Sudan, and Uganda. Today, our team of 29 dedicated professionals operates a modern fleet of 11 vehicles — including buses, 4x4 Land Cruisers, and pioneering zero-emission electric vehicles launched in 2021 for sustainable city tours. We are proud to be Ethiopia's first Travelife Sustainability Awarded DMC and were recognised as the Best Destination Management Company in Ethiopia in 2023. The name "Anbessa" means "Lion" in Amharic — symbolising the strength, courage, and leadership we bring to every journey we create. We are purely B2B and work hard to develop long-term relationships with our partners, using our expert local knowledge to create a wide range of unique experiences that ensure your clients see the very best our region has to offer. Our travellers come from all over the world. Today our key source markets include the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Spain, Russia, Poland, and Argentina — and we work closely with leading tour operators in each of these countries to deliver seamless experiences across the Horn of Africa and East Africa.
