Excellent
We had the absolute privilege of having Omar as our guide for five days from Luxor to Aswan, and without question, he was the best part of our trip. His knowledge of Egypt’s history is truly remarkable, but what makes Omar exceptional is how he shares it. He doesn’t just explain facts, he tells stories. He brings the temples, the pharaohs, and the ancient world to life in a way that makes you want to keep listening. Every site felt more meaningful because of him. Beyond his expertise, Omar is warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. From the moment we met him, he made us feel comfortable and completely at ease. He answered every question thoughtfully and never made us feel rushed. What sets him apart is how he goes above and beyond even outside of the tours themselves. While we were on our Nile River cruise, any time he saw us on the ship, he would come over to chat, check in, or ask if we needed anything. He didn’t have to do that, but he did, simply because he cares. That level of attentiveness and generosity is rare. The tour company itself was also fantastic to deal with. Everything was organized, seamless, and professional from start to finish. The transportation was spot on every single day. We never once had to worry about logistics, timing, or coordination, which made the entire experience stress free. Omar is truly one of a kind. Traveling from Luxor to Aswan is unforgettable on its own, but having him guide us made it extraordinary. We will always be grateful for the experience he gave us. If you ever have the opportunity to tour with Omar, don’t hesitate. He will make your journey unforgettable.

Excellent
We toured with Egypt Tours Portal from the Delta to Abu Simbel. We're both over 75, one with mobility issues. Mrs Walaa set an itinerary based on what we thought we wanted, achieving a four-part trip: Cairo (Pyramids), Delta and Alexandria; the "standard" Nile Cruise Luxor-Aswan; a Lake Nasser Cruise Abu Simbel to Aswan; and back to (Museums). Originally 13 days, we used an extra day before our flight left to see both the old and GEM museums. We booked privately: there was often just the two of us, occasionally an extra, and on the Nile cruise another couple for part of it. Most driving was by ETPs minibuses (comfortable, and let you to see over the top of the traffic); and car to get two of us from Aswan to Abu Simbel for the Lake Nasser cruise. The drivers were all excellent. Special thanks to the clever Mr Wal who got us into places not normally accessed on account of disabilities. We expected mid-range accommodation, but got top level rooms, andsuites in hotel Concorde El Salam, New Cairo, and the Lake Nasser cruise ship Omar El Khayam. A multi-part trip, we had a series of amazing guides. Their training and experience showed through all the time: the superbly knowledgeable Ahmad Abo El Magd for initial Cairo and Alexandria, Walid Ahmed guiding us through the standard Nile Luxor-Aswan cruising, Amr Aswany for the museum and other runs in Cairo on return, all from ETP. Also Bahaa, associated with the Lake Nasser cruise line, guided us and another couple for most of the Abu Simbel to Aswan leg. All showed an uncanny ability to arrange the time and order of viewing to dodge crowds, all treated us to unexpected or unusual things, and all were very protective and caring of us. Especially for the mobility- and health-limited Deborah, including physical assistance as needed. Seeing many reviews complaining of guides leading to 'tourist traps"--please, TRUST your Guides! Okay, the emporia they might lead you to might have some spinoff for them--it's how things work!--but they will NOT take you to fleecing shops! Especially for handicrafts, bear in mind the time to make e.g. a rug...then think in terms of salaries, and suddenly the atmospheric price is not all that high for top-end stuff. Also, in many cases the places your guides might take you are co-operatives, and sometimes sheltered workshop outlets. So you're helping as well as paying! and what you get is real and not rubbish! And your Guides WILL protect you from buying overpriced tat made in China in the Bazaar. Also, the optional excursions guides will offer may or may not appeal, take them as you wish but consider: at Aswan, a bit of extra money got us a private boat to get to Philae and the Botanic Gardens, no need to jostle with 30 other people in general cargo, as it were. DISABILITY: Deborah has mobility problems which meant slow movement using a rollator, or a pair of sticks with frequent resting. The rollator works fine, with little help, for Cairo and most of Alexandria, but the cruise components have too many stairs and not yet enough ramps. Wheelchairs would have real trouble outside Cairo at present. Outstanding consideration was given by hotel, ship staff, and outside officials in the Police and Security for the care extended to an elderly lady with mobility problems. No exceptions to this on the whole journey. This trip was long and multi-part, so inevitably there would be occasional glitches. ETP and our guides were on to it as fast as they could, sorting out the glitch very quickly. Anyone contemplating this wonderful tour, or one like it, do as we did and start at Alexandria, so the Lake Nasser cruise comes towards the end. The Luxor-Aswan section is so full on, especially if you take the balloons (you should!) and other optional extras, that you're exhausted by the time you reach Abu Simbel. The more leisurely Lake Nasser run gives the chance to recover.

Good
Had a great vaca thru Egypt Portal tour - accommodations at concorde el salah in Cairo and zen wellness center in Aswan and jolie ville in Luxor were all nice. Dog sniffing car at Concorde in Cairo did concern me as well as luggage check but overall it was nice. Room in Cairo and Aswan were small compared to Jolie ville. Jolie Ville was great - resort was perfect for relaxing with great Nile view especially the sunset. Nile cruise in Cairo was cheesy - not worth the time. Aswan was ok - Better to spend more time in Giza and Luxor if your time is less than a week. Special commendation to all the tour guides and drivers on the excursion - Hamdi was superb in navigating the chaos of driving thru Cairo like a champ! I would not have been able to navigate Cairo without destroying the car. The drivers in Aswan and Luxor were equally proficient and courteous. I will give extra commendation to Marian Azar in Luxor for extending herself to give us a welcoming tour and she was even kind enough to get the driver lunch as well - her thoughtfulness just really exemplified the true warmth of Egyptian hospitality. Only wish the Tipping could have been included in the trip cost - particularly for the use of public restrooms - foreigners like myself may not carry money to bathrooms as it is not customary ever to pay for restrooms in tour sites. If you have to tip- the bathroom should have sufficient tissue paper - this was an annoyance that I rectified by bringing toilet paper. Suggestion for EGYPT PORTAL - if the tour can be away from the tourist traps - that would be an uptick. I realize tourists are seen as dollar signs for the economy but it's better to show tourists the welcoming beauty of Egypt as I felt in Luxor than the tourist traps I felt in Cairo and Aswan. While the price for the Egypt trip could have been cheaper had i booked everything myself, I am grateful for the eye opening experience and know better for my next trip. Yes I do intend to return because I saw a great side to Egypt beyond the tourist traps.
