Born in Yebab, near the northern city of Bahir Dar, Getnet grew up surrounded by the beauty of the Ethiopian landscape and the historical monuments celebrating Ethiopian culture. Early on in his school years he developed a passion to spread the word about the multi-cultural assets and show his beloved country in a way different from the poverty stricken articles that seem to be the only way the world sees. After graduating secondary school, the choice for further education was easy – straight to Addis Ababa and the Lion Ethiopia Tourism and Hotel College to study Tourism and Hospitality Management combined with German language studies at the Goethe Institute. Working for various travel companies as well as attending training sessions on the international stage prepared him for the adventure of opening his own company A genuine understanding of the German speaking culture and community developed from numerous travels with Austrian, Swiss and German customers makes Getnet and Original Ethiopia Tours the obvious choice for travel within Ethiopia.
