Red Chilli has been operating budget lodges, campsites and tours in Uganda since 1999. The Red Chilli Hideaway in Kampala first opened its doors on a 2.5 acre piece of neglected land, comprising a scattering of derelict buildings. Initially catering for campers and overland trucks only, our facilities included just a few cold water showers and some semi-chilled drinks. By contrast, 27 years later we can now sleep over 100 guests in dorm beds and private rooms, and our extensive facilities on our bigger plot have grown alongside our popularity. In 2002 we were awarded the Uganda Wildlife Authority concession to manage the Rest Camp at Paraa, in the heart of Murchison Falls National Park. We have spent the last 11 years developing the camp and enabling budget tourists to also experience the beauty of Murchison, previously only the playground of the exclusive traveller. As budget tourism in Uganda has grown, so has the demand for affordable scheduled and tailor-made tours. We now offer 2 different scheduled Murchison Falls tours and one Queen Elizabeth tour. We can also put together individual packages on request, including other safari destinations, gorilla & chimpanzee tracking and hiking. We act as booking agents for many varied activities, such as white water rafting, canoeing, quad-biking and bungee jumping and can arrange airport transfers and budget vehicle/driver hire. The Red Chilli is a member of AUTO (Association of Uganda Tour Operators) and our efforts to support sustainable tourism have resulted in several accolades and recently a USAID award for being a Sustainable Tourism Leader.
