The 7-Day Lemosho Route is a scenic and rewarding Kilimanjaro trek through rainforest, the Shira Plateau, alpine desert, and the dramatic Barranco Valley. With gradual altitude gain and an acclimatization hike via Lava Tower, the route leads to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa, before descending through Mweka Gate.

Day 1: Londorossi Gate – Mti Mkubwa Camp
After breakfast, drive to Londorossi Gate for registration and park formalities. Continue to the trailhead and begin hiking through the lush rainforest. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings as you gradually gain altitude before reaching Mti Mkubwa Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp – Shira 1 Camp
Continue through the rainforest before entering the heath and moorland zone. The vegetation becomes shorter and the landscape opens up as you approach the Shira Plateau. Continue to Shira 1 Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp
Today, trek across the spectacular Shira Plateau. Enjoy panoramic views of Kibo Peak and the surrounding volcanic landscape. The relatively gentle hike provides valuable acclimatization time before continuing higher.

Day 4: Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp
After breakfast, begin trekking toward Lava Tower at approximately 4,630m. This is an important acclimatization day as you climb high before descending to Barranco Camp. Enjoy spectacular views of the Western Breach and Barranco Wall before arriving at camp.

Day 5: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp
Begin the day by climbing the impressive Barranco Wall. Continue across the alpine desert to Karanga Camp before proceeding to Barafu Camp, the starting point for the summit. Arrive in the afternoon, have an early dinner and rest in preparation for the midnight summit attempt.

Day 6: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp
Wake around midnight and begin the challenging summit ascent. Trek slowly toward Stella Point on the crater rim before continuing to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement and take photographs at the summit before beginning the descent to Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Arusha/Moshi
After breakfast, begin your final descent through the beautiful rainforest to Mweka Gate. Complete the park formalities and receive your summit certificate. Meet your vehicle and transfer back to Arusha or Moshi, marking the end of your Kilimanjaro adventure.
