The 8-Day Lemosho Route is a scenic and gradual Kilimanjaro trekking adventure, offering excellent acclimatization and beautiful views. The route passes through rainforest, the Shira Plateau, Lava Tower, Barranco Valley, and alpine desert before reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa.

Day 1: Londorossi Gate – Mti Mkubwa Camp
After breakfast, drive to Londorossi Gate for registration and park formalities. Continue to the trailhead and begin your trek through the lush rainforest. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings as you gradually gain altitude toward Mti Mkubwa Camp.

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp – Shira 1 Camp
Continue through the rainforest before entering the heath and moorland zone. The landscape opens up as you approach the beautiful Shira Plateau, with views toward Kibo Peak.

Day 3: Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp
Today, trek across the spectacular Shira Plateau. The relatively gentle hike allows you to enjoy the scenery while continuing your acclimatization. Take in panoramic views of Kibo and the surrounding volcanic landscape.

Day 4: Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp
After breakfast, trek toward Lava Tower at approximately 4,630m. After spending time at this high point, descend toward Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” profile provides valuable acclimatization. Enjoy views of the impressive Barranco Wall before dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp
Begin the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall. The trail then continues through the alpine desert toward Karanga Camp. Enjoy spectacular views of Kibo Peak and the surrounding mountain landscape.

Day 6: Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp
After breakfast, continue toward Barafu Camp, passing through the alpine desert zone. Arrive at Barafu in the afternoon and settle into camp. After an early dinner, rest and prepare your equipment for the summit attempt.

Day 7: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp
Wake around midnight and begin the summit ascent. Trek slowly toward Stella Point on the crater rim before continuing to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement and take photographs at the summit before descending to Mweka Camp for a well-deserved rest and overnight.

Day 8: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Arusha/Moshi
After breakfast, begin your final descent through the beautiful rainforest to Mweka Gate. Complete the park formalities and receive your summit certificate. Meet your vehicle and transfer to Arusha or Moshi, marking the end of your Kilimanjaro adventure.
