After breakfast, your private driver and local Chagga guide collect you from your Moshi hotel for the scenic 45-minute drive up the lush southern slopes of Kilimanjaro to Materuni Village (1,800 m). Start with a gentle 45-minute nature walk through banana and coffee plantations, passing avocado, mango, and lemon trees while learning about Chagga daily life. Arrive at the spectacular Materuni Waterfall—swim in the crystal-clear natural pool beneath the cascade (bring your swimsuit and towel!). Next, visit a traditional Chagga homestead for the full coffee experience: - Harvest ripe coffee cherries, - Traditional pounding & roasting in clay pots, - Hand-grinding and brewing over open fire, - Taste the freshest coffee you’ll ever drink while singing and dancing with the family. Finish with a delicious home-cooked Chagga lunch (ugali, beans, plantain, seasonal vegetables, and local greens) served with panoramic views of Kilimanjaro (weather permitting).
