Aflao, a border town in Ghana's Volta Region, lies within the Ketu South District and shares its eastern boundary with Togo. Historically significant, Aflao played a role during the Atlantic slave trade and underwent several shifts in colonial control before becoming part of the British Gold Coast in 1879. In the late 20th century, it experienced heightened border tensions, notably during the 1982-83 revolution. Today, Aflao serves as a vital cross-border trading hub and falls under the traditional jurisdiction of Togbui Amenya Fiti V, who oversees ceremonial and administrative responsibilities in the area.
