The Biharwe Eclipse Monument in Uganda's Mbarara District commemorates the total solar eclipse of April 17, 1520, a rare event that influenced regional history and folklore. Unveiled in 2014, the monument features three pillars representing the kings of Bunyoro, Nkore, and Buganda, whose fates were shaped by the eclipse. A spherical element atop the structure mimics the eclipse's shadow throughout the day. Designed by Joseph Sematimba, the monument incorporates cultural symbols reflecting the traditions of the Great Lakes region. It stands as the only scientifically dated historical event in early East African history.

The place looks bushy. Abit of maintenance would help. Besides that, it is worth a visit. The rich history of Uganda is well represented.
