Dream Tunisia

Our 8-day holiday through Tunisia was wonderful. Aymen was our tour guide and driver, and he explained the history of the ruins, cities, mosques, and so on. He is a very friendly and pleasant person. He presented the history in such a way that we were never bored. We got off to a fantastic start with a fine dining experience. We were met a few meters from the restaurant by a man in traditional clothing. He led us through beautiful alleyways, carrying a lantern. We felt like we were in a fairy tale. The food at the restaurant was excellent. However, we must warn you: it's best to go on a diet or even fast before traveling to Tunisia. Even at a fine dining establishment, I was already full before the main course arrived. On our trip, Aymen not only took us to beautiful places to enjoy, but also shared the history behind them. He pays attention to detail and does his best to make us feel welcome. For example, at the traditional market, under the strong sun, we were craving sparkling water, but we couldn't find any. Aymen asked someone to look for it; he really does know someone everywhere. This man found it and even refused to accept any money from us. We are so grateful. The weather was pleasant when we were there, and Tunisia is so much more than just desert. Tunisia has many different landscapes. There are deserts with camels and oases with date palms, as well as green landscapes with many olive trees. For the first time in our lives, we saw date palms. Aymen even made a short stop in a date palm grove for us so we could get a closer look. While we were driving along a main road through the desert, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, he told us that tortoises sometimes wandered by. We doubted that tortoises could live in such a dry environment. Suddenly, he said that he had just seen one, but we hadn't. He turned his car around and looked for the tortoise. And yes… the tortoise was there. He parked the car on the side of the road and got the tortoise off the road. After we greeted the tortoise and gave it a drink of water, Aymen helped it across the road. That was lovely. On our tour, we visited wonderfully preserved ruins from Roman times and even earlier, and learned a great deal about them. Even in the shops, people don't just sell their products, but also the stories behind them. The shopkeepers will treat you like a guest in their home. They offer cake and tea to visitors. They tell you about the culture and history of their products. However, you also have to learn to simply say no clearly if you don't want to buy something, which was a bit overwhelming for us at first. You can also simply give a small tip for the explanations if you don't want to buy anything but enjoyed hearing a good story. If you're looking for a luxury all-inclusive vacation and prefer not to leave your hotel, this isn't the place for you. But if you want to experience a fantastic country with a rich history and culture, this is the perfect destination.

Aymen was an excellent tour guide in Tunisia! He was very friendly, professional and had an incredible knowledge of the history and culture of the country. He took us to unique places, offering not only information but also stories that made our experience even more exciting. He was always willing to answer our questions and adapt the program to our needs. Thanks to him, our visit to Tunisia became unforgettable. I highly recommend him!

Fantastic tour off the beaten path! Breathtaking landscapes and historical sites! The guide was very accommodating to our desire to learn more about the culture and cuisine.

It was a two-day, one-night tour. Aymen was a friendly guide who was easy to communicate with and was fluent in English and Japanese in addition to his native French and Arabic. The Douz desert was amazing, and I would recommend it to anyone traveling to Tunisia!
