"An experience we'll never forget Jun 2026 • Couples The Omo Valley had been on our bucket list for years, and after completing this 8-day tour, I can honestly say it was one of the most rewarding trips we've ever taken. What made this journey so memorable wasn't just the incredible tribes we visited, but the people who made it all happen. Our guide, Berekat, was exceptional. He's incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about sharing the history and culture of the Omo Valley. Every day we learnt something new, and he always took the time to answer our questions and explain the traditions and customs of each community. We never felt rushed, and it was obvious that he has built genuine trust with the local people, which made every visit feel respectful and authentic. A big thank you also goes to our driver, DJ. We spent many hours on some very rough roads, yet we always felt comfortable and safe. He was calm, professional, and always in a good mood. The vehicle was well looked after, and his driving made the long travel days much easier than we expected. The camping experience was another highlight, and Gizaw, our chef, deserves enormous credit. We still can't believe the quality of the meals he prepared in such remote locations. Every meal was fresh, filling and delicious, and somehow he managed to serve food that felt like it came from a proper kitchen rather than a campsite. After long days exploring the Omo Valley, his meals were something we genuinely looked forward to. Without a doubt, our favourite part of the trip was spending the night with the Kwegu community. It felt like a real privilege to stay in such a remote place rather than simply visiting for an hour or two. Watching daily life unfold, spending the evening by the Omo River, and waking up surrounded by nature made the experience feel incredibly genuine. It wasn't about putting on a show for visitors—it felt like we were being welcomed into a community and given the chance to appreciate a completely different way of life. It was peaceful, humbling and something we'll remember for many years. The itinerary itself was excellent. Every day offered something different, from meeting the Mursi, Hamer, Nyangatom, Kara, Dassanech, Arbore, Konso and Dorze communities to exploring beautiful landscapes and finishing with the Lake Chamo boat safari. The balance between cultural experiences, driving and relaxation was just right. A heartfelt thank you to Berekat for all your hard work.
