Fly from Addis Ababa to Jinka, located in the heart of Ethiopia’s South Omo region. Upon arrival, meet your cultural guide and begin the scenic drive to Turmi, passing through traditional villages and acacia-dotted landscapes. If the timing aligns, stop at one of the region’s vibrant tribal markets—Key Afer (Thursday), Alduba (Tuesday), or Dimeka (Saturday)—where Hamar, Banna, and Tsemay people gather in a kaleidoscope of color and culture. In the afternoon, visit a nearby Hamar village. Known for their elaborate ochre hairstyles, leather clothing, and rich oral traditions, the Hamar are among the most visually striking and culturally intact tribes in the region.
