Step into one of Africa’s last true wildernesses, Nyerere National Park, formerly known as the Selous Game Reserve and still widely called Selous among safari enthusiasts. Far from the crowds of the northern circuit, this hidden gem offers raw, untouched beauty. Here, rivers wind through golden plains and wildlife roams freely across one of Africa’s vast protected wilderness landscapes.
This is not just a safari, it is a deeply immersive experience. You’ll walk through landscapes where elephants wander, glide silently past crocodiles along ancient waterways, and fall asleep beneath a sky filled with a million stars. The legendary Rufiji River, one of Africa’s largest river systems south of the Congo, forms the beating heart of Nyerere and sustains an extraordinary diversity of wildlife. From large elephant populations and significant wild dog packs to hippos, lions, leopards, and the rare Roosevelt sable antelope, Nyerere offers an unforgettable opportunity to experience Africa in its most natural form.
With Wildflip Safaris, every moment here feels personal, wild, and unforgettable. Our expert guides reveal the secrets of this extraordinary wilderness through walking safaris, boat safaris, game drives, and tree-hide wildlife watching. These unique experiences offer a level of immersion that is rarely available in Tanzania’s more frequently visited northern parks.
