With this habituation experience, visitors are guaranteed to spend four hours with mountain gorillas, unlike the normal gorilla trekking experiences where visitors are allowed only one hour upon encounter. During the habituation process, gorillas are gradually trained to get used to human presence over a period of about three years, after which the groups are considered fully habituated and opened for regular gorilla tracking.

Day 1: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi, Uganda Equator

Our driver-guide will pick you up from your accommodations at 7:00 am, brief you about your habituation safari, and then transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It is approximately 540 km (around nine hours of driving) to the southern sector. Although the journey is long, it is rewarding, with much to see along the way. You may even spot zebras and impalas grazing in Lake Mburo National Park. You will stop at the Equator for photography and an equator experiment, then have another stopover in Mbarara for lunch before arriving at your accommodations in the evening.
