Day 1: Moshi/Arusha – Marangu Gate – Mandara Hut
After breakfast, depart from Moshi or Arusha and drive to Marangu Gate, where you will complete registration and other park formalities before starting your climb. The trek begins through the beautiful montane rainforest, with a gradual ascent along a well-maintained trail. Enjoy the peaceful forest environment and keep an eye out for birds, monkeys and other wildlife as you make your way toward Mandara Hut.
Upon arrival at Mandara Hut, settle in and relax after the first day of trekking. If time and energy allow, you can take a short walk to Maundi Crater for scenic views of the surrounding landscape. Dinner and overnight will be at Mandara Hut.

Day 2: Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut
After breakfast, continue your ascent toward Horombo Hut. The trail gradually leaves the rainforest behind and enters the beautiful moorland zone, where the vegetation becomes more open and the views of Kilimanjaro’s peaks become increasingly impressive.
Enjoy a picnic lunch along the route before continuing toward Horombo Hut. Upon arrival, take time to rest and acclimatize while enjoying views of Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks. Dinner and overnight will be at Horombo Hut.

Day 3: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut
After breakfast, begin the trek toward Kibo Hut, crossing the high-altitude Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks. The landscape changes dramatically as you enter the alpine desert zone, with sparse vegetation and impressive volcanic scenery.
This is an important acclimatization day, so maintain a slow and steady pace while following your guide’s instructions. Upon reaching Kibo Hut, have dinner and prepare your equipment and clothing for the early-morning summit attempt. Rest early because the final ascent will begin during the night.

Day 4: Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak – Horombo Hut
Wake up around midnight and begin the most challenging and rewarding part of the climb. The ascent toward Uhuru Peak is slow and demanding as you trek through the darkness toward Gilman’s Point (5,681 m) on the crater rim. Continue along the crater rim toward Stella Point and finally reach Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa.
At the summit, take time to celebrate your achievement and enjoy the breathtaking views, weather permitting. After photographs and a short rest, begin the long descent back toward Kibo Hut for a rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut. Dinner and overnight will be at Horombo Hut.

Day 5: Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate – Moshi/Arusha
After breakfast, begin your final descent from Horombo Hut toward Marangu Gate. The trail takes you through the moorland and back into the lush rainforest, allowing you to enjoy the changing scenery as you descend.
Upon reaching Marangu Gate, complete the final park procedures and receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificate, where applicable. Your driver will meet you at the gate and transfer you back to Moshi or Arusha, marking the end of your 5-day group join Mount Kilimanjaro climbing adventure.
