The 6-Day Rongai Route offers a unique and quieter approach to Mount Kilimanjaro from the northern side of the mountain, near the Tanzania–Kenya border. It is particularly attractive for trekkers looking for a less crowded trail and a different perspective of Kilimanjaro.
The route passes through beautiful farmland, montane forest, moorland and alpine desert landscapes before joining the main summit trail near Kibo. The northern side is generally drier than the southern routes, making Rongai an appealing option during wetter periods.
The trek culminates with a challenging midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. After reaching the summit, you descend via the southern side of the mountain through Horombo and complete your adventure at Marangu Gate.
