The 7-Day Rongai Route is a scenic and less crowded route to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, approaching the mountain from the northeastern side near the Tanzania–Kenya border. The gradual ascent provides a good opportunity for acclimatization while passing through diverse landscapes, from lush forests and moorlands to the spectacular alpine desert.
The trek includes a carefully paced summit attempt from Kibo Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa, followed by descent through the Marangu side of the mountain. This route is ideal for hikers looking for a quieter Kilimanjaro experience with beautiful scenery and a well-balanced trekking schedule.

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania – Transfer to Moshi
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. After check-in, you will have time to relax and prepare for the climb. In the evening, your mountain guide will conduct a pre-climb briefing and equipment check.

Day 2: Moshi – Rongai Gate – Simba Camp
After breakfast, drive to Rongai Gate, located on the northeastern side of Mount Kilimanjaro. After registration and meeting your mountain crew, begin your trek through farmland and into the beautiful montane forest.
The trail is gentle and allows you to gradually adjust to the altitude.

Day 3: Simba Camp – Kikelelwa Cave Camp
After breakfast, continue climbing through the forest toward the moorland zone. As you gain altitude, the vegetation becomes more open, revealing beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.
The trek continues toward Kikelelwa Cave Camp, where you will spend the night and acclimatize.

Day 4: Kikelelwa Cave Camp – Mawenzi Tarn Camp
Today is an important acclimatization day. You will leave Kikelelwa Cave and trek toward Mawenzi Tarn, situated beneath the dramatic peaks of Mawenzi.
The afternoon is dedicated to rest and acclimatization. Enjoy spectacular views of Mawenzi and the surrounding alpine landscape.

Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn Camp – Kibo Camp
After breakfast, trek across the alpine desert toward Kibo, the highest volcanic cone of Kilimanjaro. The landscape becomes increasingly rocky and barren as you approach Kibo Camp.
Upon arrival, you will have an early dinner and rest. Your guide will provide a briefing for the upcoming summit attempt, which starts around midnight.

Day 6: Kibo Camp – Uhuru Peak – Horombo Camp
Wake around midnight and begin the challenging summit ascent. Trek slowly across steep scree toward Gilman's Point on the crater rim.
From Gilman's Point, continue around the crater rim toward Stella Point and onward to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa.
After celebrating your achievement and taking photographs, begin the descent to Kibo Camp for a short rest before continuing down to Horombo Camp.

Day 7: Horombo Camp – Marangu Gate – Moshi
After breakfast, begin your final descent through the beautiful montane forest toward Marangu Gate.
At the gate, complete the park exit procedures and receive your summit certificates if you successfully reached the designated summit point. You will then meet your driver and transfer back to Moshi for a well-deserved rest.
