After breakfast, depart Moshi and drive toward the northern side of Kilimanjaro. Complete registration before beginning the trek through farmland and beautiful forest toward Simba Camp.
The first day provides a gentle introduction to the mountain and allows climbers to settle into the trekking rhythm.
Elevation: Approx. 1,950m → 2,625m
Hiking: 3–4 hours
Accommodation: Simba Camp
After breakfast, continue steadily through the moorland zone. The vegetation gradually becomes more open, providing excellent views toward Kibo and the surrounding northern plains.
Arrive at Second Cave for dinner and overnight.
Elevation: 2,625m → 3,450m
Hiking: Approx. 5–6 hours
Accommodation: Second Cave Camp
Continue across increasingly remote terrain toward Kikelewa Camp. The trail offers impressive views of Mawenzi and the eastern side of Kilimanjaro.
The afternoon can be used for rest and acclimatization before dinner.
Elevation: 3,450m → 3,600m
Hiking: Approx. 3–5 hours
Accommodation: Kikelewa Camp
After breakfast, cross the lunar-like alpine desert known as The Saddle, which lies between Mawenzi and Kibo.
Reach Kibo Hut in the afternoon. Eat an early dinner, prepare your summit equipment and rest before beginning the summit attempt around midnight.
Elevation: 4,330m → 4,703m
Hiking: Approx. 5–6 hours
Accommodation: Kibo Hut
Around midnight, begin the challenging ascent toward Gilman’s Point. From there, continue along the crater rim toward the ultimate goal—Uhuru Peak at 5,895m, the highest point in Africa.
After celebrating at the summit, descend to Kibo for a short rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut.
Elevation: 4,703m → 5,895m → 3,720m
Hiking: Approx. 12–16 hours
Accommodation: Horombo Hut
After breakfast, make the final descent through the moorland and lush rainforest, passing Mandara Hut before reaching Marangu Gate.
Successful climbers receive their summit certificates before transferring back to Moshi, marking the end of your Kilimanjaro adventure.
