Located on Limuru Road in the diplomatic enclave of Gigiri, the shopping complex known as Village Market Nairobi offers one of the city's most complete lifestyle experiences. Combining retail, dining and entertainment under one sophisticated roof, this shopping mall promises something for visitors of all ages. Location & How to Get There Village Market sits approximately 6–10 km from Nairobi's city centre, depending on traffic, in the leafy suburb of Gigiri. The district is known for international embassies and a quieter residential feel—making the complex an easy escape from the busier downtown areas. Getting there is straightforward: taxis, ride-hailing apps or your own vehicle along Limuru Road. Ample parking is available on-site and opening hours are generous: from early morning into late evening. A Brief History & Design Highlights Founded by Iranian brothers Hamed and Mehraz Ehsani, Village Market opened in 1995 and has since grown into a landmark in Nairobi's retail scene. The design draws on the rhythm of an open-air African market—think flowing water features, greenery, indoor-outdoor transitions and an overall airy layout. Shopping Experience Inside, you'll find over 150 (and by some accounts over 250) individual outlets, covering a rich mix of Kenyan designers, international brands and everything in between. For a unique shopping moment, the Friday-only craft market (Maasai Market) on the upper car park is a must for handmade jewellery, carved wood, beadwork and more—just remember, prices are negotiable. Whether you’re looking for high-end fashion, beauty services or souvenirs to take home, Village Market caters to a wide range of tastes and budgets. Dining & Food Options When hunger strikes, you'll be spoiled for choice. The food court spans international cuisine, Kenyan staple dishes and relaxed cafés. For example, artisanal coffee shops, gourmet burgers and regional specialties all sit side-by-side. Outdoor seating and shaded gardens add comfortable ambience for a relaxed meal. If your group includes vegetarian, meat-lover or speciality diets, you’ll likely find something for everyone. Entertainment & Family Facilities Village Market isn't just about shopping—it's built for fun too. A large trampoline park (named Ozone) caters to kids, teens and adults alike. There's also a bowling alley, mini-golf and specialised play zones that make it a solid pick for families looking to combine shopping with entertainment. Events and exhibitions often tie into the calendar—look out for art shows, music afternoons and seasonal promotions. Practical Visitor Tips · Opening Hours: Daily from early morning into late evening (official site: from 7 am to 11 pm). · Parking: On-site parking is available; arriving early helps if you want easy access. · Craft Market: Visit on Friday for the Maasai Market stalls; early arrival improves selection and avoids rush. · Budgeting: Expect mid-to-upper price range for many outlets; bargain hunting is better suited to craft stalls. · Family Visit: Allow at least 2–3 hours if you plan shopping + dining + entertainment. · Safety & Comfort: The mall is considered secure and visitor-friendly in the Gigiri area.

Village Market Nairobi is one of the best lifestyle destinations in the city. The mall has a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options — from international brands to unique local stores. The food court and dining areas are excellent, with something for every taste, and the environment feels safe, clean, and family-friendly. I especially like the open, airy layout which makes it stand out compared to other malls. Parking is convenient and well organized, and staff are always helpful. Whether for shopping, dining, or just relaxing, Village Market never disappoints.

Nice concept with the plants and colourful decoration. This is a medium to big mall with many shops. Banks, 3 telecom companies, clothing stores, African craft stores and more. There are also many places to choose amongst to eat. There is also a bowling alley but no cinema.

This beautiful area boasts a charming old side that contrasts with the modern side, yet they coexist harmoniously. It’s a family-friendly destination with ample open spaces for children to play, a bowling alley, and numerous restaurants. Your visit to the Village Market will undoubtedly be a positive experience.
