Beginning with a scenic flight from Nairobi's Wilson Airport into the rugged beauty of Samburu National Reserve, you'll spend two nights immersed in arid-country landscapes alive with rare northern species — the long-necked Gerenuk, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, Grevy's Zebra, and Beisa Oryx — alongside over 450 bird species and 900 elephants. Your base, the riverside Soroi Larsens Camp, offers star beds, a dedicated photographic hide, and evening campfire appetisers on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. On Day 3 you board another flight south to the legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve, where two nights at the intimate Soroi Luxury Migration Camp place you minutes from Olkiombo airstrip in prime Lions and Leopards territory. Your journey into the African wilderness begins at Nairobi's Wilson Airport, where a scheduled light aircraft flight lifts you northward over the Great Rift Valley into the arid, sunbaked landscape of Samburu National Reserve. On arrival, a camp vehicle meets you for the short transfer to Soroi Larsens Camp — your elegant riverside home for the next two nights. Set on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River beneath a canopy of yellow fever trees, the camp offers 12 standard tents, 2 family tents, and 2 deluxe suites with star beds, all facing the river. Settle in, enjoy a welcome drink, and absorb the sights and sounds of the bush as the afternoon unfolds.
