Kiboko Bay Resort sits along the northeastern edge of Lake Victoria in Kisumu, western Kenya. Known for its proximity to the lake's papyrus-fringed shoreline, the resort offers direct access to one of Africa's largest freshwater ecosystems. The name "Kiboko" means hippopotamus in Swahili—a fitting reference, as hippos are occasionally spotted nearby, especially at dawn or dusk. The resort's open-air layout, with thatched-roof cottages and a lake-facing restaurant, is designed to blend with the lakeside environment, making it a practical base for travelers exploring the region. From the resort, guests can access birdwatching areas and boat excursions on Lake Victoria, where sightings of African fish eagles and herons are common. Kiboko Bay is also a short drive from Kisumu Impala Sanctuary and the city's bustling markets, providing opportunities to experience Luo culture and local crafts. The resort's connection to Kisumu's natural and cultural landscape, along with its eco-conscious design, makes it a notable stop for travelers interested in both relaxation and regional exploration.

A beautiful hidden gem with awesome lake view. It's so clean and the environment is serene to work in , relax and unwind. They have delicious meals and the portions are generous. Also it's affordable. They also have boats for boat riding and tour around the lake.

This place has seriously deteriorated. I remember visiting here in 2015 & 16. Now in 2025 what has happened? Walked in with no greeting from staff, in fact one member of staff were on their phone. It took over 10 minutes to get a drink from the point of ordering and wait for it....50 minutes for a plate of chips.....we had to request for salt etc. Waitress that served us was friendly.

Great beach front, with amazing views of the lake and zenith, especially early mornings and late sunsets. The sounds of birds and views of fishermen resting on their boats and casting their nets is breathtaking as much as it's calming. Great place for family time when busy but also great for solitude and calmness.
