Biharamulo Forest Reserve in northwestern Tanzania's Kagera Region was officially designated a protected forest in 1954, covering roughly 1,462.3 square kilometres under the management of the Tanzania Forest Services Agency. The reserve hosts a Miombo woodland ecosystem punctuated by savannah and riverine habitats, which support mammals including elephants, antelopes, and monkeys, plus waterbirds like marabou storks and billed storks. During the January–April rains the landscape comes alive with breeding and migratory birdlife, making it a key site for ornithologists and nature travelers alike.
